In November of last year, I had the pleasure of being the chosen florist for Amy and Matt's extraordinary wedding celebration at the picturesque Pheasant Brewery in East Markham, Nottingham. Though my time there was limited to the morning, the glimpses I caught of their special day left a lasting impression.
The venue itself set the stage for an unforgettable event. Nestled in the heart of Nottinghamshire, Pheasantry Brewery provided a rustic yet charming backdrop that perfectly complemented Amy and Matt's unique style. With its exposed brick walls and cosy atmosphere, it was the ideal setting for a wedding that was anything but traditional.
As I arrived to set up the floral arrangements for the ceremony, I couldn't help but admire the stunning display. Pale and blush pink roses intertwined with ferns and seasonal flowers created an ethereal ambience that was both romantic and whimsical.
What truly set Amy and Matt's wedding apart, however, was their unapologetic embrace of their individuality.
As I worked, they played their carefully curated playlist, featuring a captivating instrumental version of Slipknot and the iconic theme from Vikings. It was a reflection of their shared love for alternative music and a testament to their authenticity as a couple.
The reception was a sight to behold, with long banquet-style tables adorned with lush greenery and decadent floral arrangements. Each place setting featured a unique "death till us part" favour, adding a touch of macabre charm to the festivities.
And let's not forget the pièce de résistance – their custom beer, complete with personalized labels featuring their picture.
But beyond the stunning aesthetics and thoughtful details, what truly made Amy and Matt's wedding special was the palpable love and joy that filled the air. Surrounded by family and friends who embraced their unique vision wholeheartedly, they exchanged vows that were as genuine and heartfelt as they came.
As I packed up my equipment at the end of the morning, I couldn't help but reflect on the beauty of love in all its forms. Amy and Matt's wedding was a celebration of not only their commitment to each other but also their commitment to staying true to themselves. It was a reminder that love knows no bounds and that weddings are at their most beautiful when they reflect the personalities and passions of the couple.
