February Stories

February was a very busy month for me! I have been getting to grips with my camera whilst also experimenting with photography from my iPhone in my little workshop. In-between showcasing my designs at wedding fayres, I was of course busy over the peak of Valentines's Day.

I'll begin my first blog of the month with Laura's wedding. I adored this wedding (pictured below) back in April last year, featuring those amazing Icelandic poppies.

I really enjoyed being at Hirst Priory's first Wedding Fayre of the year, and had the opportunity to talk to many excited brides about their forth coming weddings. I loved being able to dress the stunning staircase - it's huge! I used stripy purple tulips, pink stocks, snapdragons and hydrangeas.

I'm also very excited to start using Kate Cullen's gorgeous, handmade silk ribbons and cannot wait to use them in the gorgeous weddings I have booked for this year.

And of course Valentine's Day came and went in a blink of an eye. I'm sure you all know it's a very busy time for us florists, and as a freelance florist I was contracted out, purely because I do not yet offer a delivery service myself. Wedding flowers are my priority, but when I'm not busy with weddings I like to help out at other shops.

It's been so lovely to work closely with Holly from Ink and Flow. Some of you may already know that she is in fact my niece, and I'm so proud of how she has managed to grow her business. She also helps with editing my blogs and is sometimes my assistant (second pair of hands) in the summer when I've had large weddings.

Grace and Guy's beach wedding also got featured on my blog last month. They were married abroad back in April last year, with a home reception at Newstead Priory in May.

At the end of the month I was again showcasing my work at Cusworth Hall's Wedding Open Day. My fun display with gin bottles was received very well by the brides to be. I also managed to get my hands on some fabulous ranunculus, which I have to say were just scrumptious!

So, March is set to be another busy little month with yet more weddings to share with you from last year. There will be more photo shoots and, of course, Mother's Day! I'm looking forward to sharing more Spring Flowers your way to banish those winter blues!
